Heather and Hillforts is an award winning project commissioned by Denbighshire County Council
Paintings of ‘Heather and Hillforts’ developed between 2009 and 2011 alongside archaeological excavations uncovering the ancient hillforts of the Clwydian Range. An exhibition of archaeological discoveries toured North Wales and my commissioned project paintings are currently on display at Loggerheads Country Park.
My involvement in “Heather and Hillforts” is about looking, seeing and responding to the Clwydian Hill range and its string of hillforts shaped by past and present activities. I decided to express my view through a visitor’s engagement sensing grandeur of form, colours and textures, skies and distance, people and landscape.
